Some Insight On Coach Tomer and YTB

I usually do not make a habit of posting comments, but I thought this one was very interesting. A new reader to this blog, Bentonite, has offered the following information on Lloyd "Coach" Tomer. I am unable to verify the veracity, but I also have no reason to doubt it from what I have witnessed.

Actually JLT got his start with the church he started in Benton, IL. The same skills he uses today were used to build up a church from nothing to a large church in a very small town.

Using some of his devotees from that venture he went on to the ADD A TUNE venture where he first used the MLM scheme to sell a product that the faithful believed would do wonders when added to the fuel tank of a car. This all happened during the late 70s and early 80s as I recall. It culminated with the infamous Elvis plane flying to Dallas loaded with prominent people from his home town. The plane was met at the airport by law inforcement personel. Although the product was a complete fraud JLT had convinced a lot of otherwise honest and smart people that it was a miracle product. I am not sure that JLT didn't believe it himself.

Then he got involved with AL Williams. He used his skills to build a very immpresive business. The marketing was MLM so by its very nature only a relatively small number of people actually made any money but the product was legit. Many whole life policies of that era were not very good deals for people but the insurance companies did not pay enough commissions on Term for the agents to make a living so they sold whole life to people whether they needed it or not. If AL Williams was a scam they were the lesser of evils when it comes to the insurance consumer.

Some of the same people who were with JLT from the church and ADD A TUNE days helped him with this current venture. Ron Head is a good example. The people who have been with JLT all of these years are not people who are out to cheat anyone. They are true believers in JLT and whatever he leads them to do. Just be thankful that JLT uses his talents just for MLM schemes and does not use them for things like Jim Jones did. It would be just as easy for him to get people to drink Jim Jones Kool-Aid as YTB Kool-Aid.

I would bet any of his critics on this site that if you spent a day with JLT one on one that by the end of the day you'd drink the Kool-Aid too.
